Hearing nerve

I am a 20 year old male having a problem with my ear. I cannot hear from the left ear. I have consulted many doctors but they say it cannot be cured since it is a problem of the hearing nerve. What should I do?

This can be caused by damage to the organ of hearing (the cochlea) or the nerve of hearing. It is important to be sure that there is no swelling of the nerve of hearing (an acoustic neuroma) but this would be most unlikely in a patient of this age. I fear that there is no treatment to restore the hearing in a patient with nerve deafness but a hearing aid might be of value if the hearing has not been completely lost.
